MicroCampus — Terms of Service & Disclaimer

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using MicroCampus ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

MicroCampus is a school management platform that provides tools for attendance tracking, student record management, report cards, document sharing, event management, waiver signing, and parent-school communication. The Service is provided to schools and their authorized users (administrators, teachers, and parents).

3. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.

MicroCampus does not warrant that:

The Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free
The results obtained from the Service will be accurate or reliable
Any errors in the Service will be corrected

4. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MICROCAMPUS AND ITS OPERATORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR PERSONAL INJURY, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

MicroCampus is a technology platform only. It does not provide educational, medical, legal, or childcare services. Schools are solely responsible for:

The accuracy of student, medical, and emergency contact information entered into the system
Ensuring appropriate supervision and care of students
Compliance with applicable education laws, privacy regulations, and child protection requirements
Verifying the identity and authorization of users granted access to the system
Maintaining appropriate backup records independent of the Service

5. Data & Privacy

MicroCampus stores personal information including student records, medical information, contact details, and school communications. By using the Service:

Schools are responsible for obtaining appropriate consent from parents/guardians for the collection and storage of student data
Schools are responsible for compliance with applicable privacy laws (including PIPEDA in Canada and any provincial privacy legislation)
MicroCampus will make reasonable efforts to protect stored data but cannot guarantee absolute security
Data is stored on cloud infrastructure (Amazon Web Services) in the United States and Canada

6. Medical Information Disclaimer

Medical information stored in MicroCampus (including allergies, medications, EpiPen requirements, and physician details) is provided by parents and school staff for reference purposes only. MicroCampus does not verify the accuracy of medical information and is not a substitute for professional medical advice or emergency medical services.

Schools and staff should always:

Verify medical information directly with parents/guardians
Follow established emergency protocols regardless of information in the system
Call 911 or local emergency services in any medical emergency
Not rely solely on MicroCampus for critical medical decisions

7. Waiver & Document Disclaimer

Digital waivers signed through MicroCampus record the user's consent along with a timestamp and IP address. MicroCampus does not provide legal advice regarding the enforceability of digital signatures or waivers. Schools should consult with legal counsel regarding their waiver content and requirements.

8. User Responsibilities

Users are responsible for:

Maintaining the confidentiality of their login credentials
The accuracy of information they enter into the system
Reporting any unauthorized access or security concerns to their school administrator
Using the Service in compliance with applicable laws

9. Service Availability

MicroCampus may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. We do not guarantee any specific level of uptime or availability. Schools should maintain independent records for critical information.

10. Changes to Terms

MicroCampus reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta, Canada. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Alberta.
